And I was there this past May on a stunning spring day.  My William Barriball was baptized here and went to North Petherwin to marry Mary Vosper, daughter of Joseph and Mary (Frane) who was from North Tamerton where Daniel Vosper brought his bride Judith Dynham.  North Tamerton was the home of three Vosper generations.  My visit to North Tamerton, not in a village as is Altarnun, was on a day with lots of liquid sunshine; only a few of those stunning carved bench ends have survived here.

Jim,
I also have Northey/Northy who came through Broadwoodwidger, Ashwater and St Giles to North Petherwin.

Best,
Cousin Glenda

I enjoyed visiting there in 2009.  My third great-grandmother Elizabeth Northey Box (1762-1810) was christened there along with other Northey/Northy relatives.  I believe I did see a marker for Richard Vosper.

Keep up the good work!

St. Nonna, Alternun

This morning this picture came up as my desktop photo.  It is from our trip 2 years ago.

Alternun is where Elizabeth Nicolls married Richard Vosper in  1811, and where Richard died in 1861:

I particularly loved the carvings on the ends of the pews, and the handmade kneeling cushions.   What a beautiful place!
