Johannes Vosper d. 10 Mar 1590, St. Mellion, Cornwall

William Vosper (1526-1607?)

I found this record of a burial for William Vosper in Morval, Cornwall in 1607:

Don't know if it's OUR William Vosper, but I suppose it's possible.  In the absence of any other records, I have added it to my tree.

Joane Bennye (1536? - 1600?)

Went around the corner and got a big cup of coffee, and am feeling much better now - the fingers are working, too!

Joane's baptism is not to be found.  Not on Family Search, not on FMP, not on Cornwall OPC:

Nothing on FMP, nothing on Family Search.  On to a different person!

William Trebursie Vosper (1526 - 1595)

My tree shows him as being born 1526 Trebursie, some site show it being Launceston.  There are no records for those years, so I'm not sure what the source of this info is.  I checked FindMyPast - no baptismal records.

Marriage record from a book:

See the marriage section on his profile on my tree to get the particulars on the book:  https://www.ancestry.com/mediaui-viewer/tree/47009625/person/6706760194/media/e222c376-1eb9-4ad7-bdd5-8bcdbe3bbec2

My tree shows his death as 1595 Launceston.  No records go back that far.

OK, so, I am going home today, and have a partial day at the library - 5 hours to be exact.  I had a long period of insomnia last night, and nothing seems to be going right today.  The fingers don't work, etc.   It's a wonder I got here.  Take that as an excuse for poor performance - in advance!

Thomas Vosper ( - 1639)

Daniel Vosper

I have found his marriage record - or I should say that GLENNA provided a copy of his marriage record and it is on my tree.  He was married in 1621.  My profile page shows he was born in 1592 in RedRuth, but that doesn't seem right.  His marriage record shows he is of Tamerton.
Here is a transcription showing 1592:

I went through every page of the North Tamerton baptismal records from 1572-1610, but did not find him there.

Nothing on FindMyPast, either:

HAVE to move on....

Judith Dinham (1596-1654)

Baptism:

I have been unable to find a burial record for Judith, but I did find this weird record for Jelian, where it is very apparent the name has been written over -- I wonder if it was Judith?

I have put it as a maybe on my tree.

Joseph Vosper (1624-1666)

Baptism and Marraige are on his profile page.

Found this burial record.  Note it says "of Allacott", Allacott Woods is 15 miles from North Tamerton.

husbandman in England in the medieval and early modern period was a free tenant farmer or small landowner. The social status of a husbandman was below that of a yeoman. The meaning of "husband" in this term is "master of house" rather than "married man".

Revision: Mary Fox burial

There are many possibilities for this one, except the one on my previous email.

I think this is the most likely, but there are other possibilities, too.

Degory Baskevill - revised theory

Just when I said I was moving on to other lines I did this search:  https://www.familysearch.org/search/record/results?givenname=Dogory&surname=Baskeville&birth_place=Shaugh%2C%20Devon%2C%20England&birth_year_from=1600&birth_year_to=1750&count=20&offset=0

I guess I’ll be working on this for awhile longer!

Digory Baskeville, son of Digory and Mary (he is a great uncle of ours):

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:939N-78S8-W?i=30&cc=1804330&personaUrl=%2Fark%3A%2F61903%2F1%3A1%3AKCSP-XWW

After looking all this over, here is a revised theory of the Baskevilles of this region (our line is on the far right):

I have entered this on my tree as if the “same?” Is a yes.

Good old fashioned hunch given the lack of evidence.

Yes.  I know.  WAG are not allowed in genealogy.  But it’s not ENTIRELY wild!

Here is the marriage record of Digory to Honour Dungie from 1646:

(BTW, Chris b. 1693 named a daughter HONOR in 1725.  Just saying.

Now, really, after lunch, I’m moving on to another family line.  Time is running out!

There are so many Elizabeth Pearce’s that I am unable to discern which is her to determine parentage or vitals.

Darn it!

Theory of the Male Baskevill lines

Hi Cousins!  Happy Thursday!

I have gone through the baptism records of the Cornwood and Shaugh Priorys and picked out as many of the Baskevill baptism records as I could make sense of.  I’ve arranged them in family groups, trying to figure out where Digory may fit in.  Here’s how it came out:

As you can see, I haven’t come any closer to figuring out where Digory belongs.  He could be the son of any one of the (supposed) brothers, Henry, Richard, Sampson, or Thomas – all of whom are shown as having children, but non of whom show baptismal records.  You can review some of the research records here:  https://www.familysearch.org/search/record/results?surname=Baskeville&birth_place=Shaugh%2C%20Devon%2C%20England&birth_year_from=1600&birth_year_to=1750&count=20&offset=0

Time to move on to other lines! Only 2 days left! (sorry for how I interchange the spelling of Baskevill, Baskervill, Baskerville….)

Encountering some technical difficulties here.  Seems when I’ve been here about 8 hours my computer can’t work anymore.  I SWEAR, it is not user error!  They keep logging me out of their network!
