Arundel home from 1400s

Hello Vosper cousins,

This is not quite Vosper information, but the Vosper family does descend
from the Arundells.

While working on the Arundell line, I discovered Ebbingford Manor in Bude,
Cornwall then in the parish of Stratton. This home came to the Arundell
family through the marriage of Sir John Arundell I to Jane Durant in the
early 1400s. Its construction dates from the 12th century. The Arundell
family held this manor and surrounding lands along with Trerice near Newquay
until the family name died out in the late 1700s. They shared the area
around Bude with the Grenvilles with whom there were a number of marriages
over the years.

Ebbingford is in private hands and there are several holiday lets. We
stayed in the original part of the building which included the old medieval
hall and the original beams. The entry door is very old and may also be
original.

I had hoped to maybe meet some ghosts...they weren't around..., but it was
still a great thrill to be able to stay here and experience some of the
local history.

Best,
