Joseph Vosper 1697- baptism record

Lydia Isbell baptism 31 May 1702 - original parish record

Marriage record for Joseph Vosper and Lydia Isbell and a TIP for finding images of original registers

While going through Cousin Sheila’s emails, I was also looking up records on FamilySearch.org (in prep for my trip to SLC).  I was frustrated that the images of the records weren’t showing up when I did a record search.  I discovered, however, that if I looked up a person on the Tree search, that I could look at the citations, and the image of the register would appear there!  Yeah!

Here is an example:

Clicking on the URL highlighted, it brought up:

I could then click on the original, and find the record I was looking for.  A new avenue for finding original records for free!

I have saved a copy of the record of this marriage on my tree at:

I found this today:  https://www.ancestry.com/mediaui-viewer/tree/47009625/person/6680742597/media/bf9928f6-6389-44f9-a323-9053790fbd85

On the previous page was this image of a marriage between William Izbell and Jane Vosper:   It should be noted that I don’t know who the Jane Vosper in this record is.

There will be more updates as I go through Cousin Sheila’s emails.

Thanks, Sheila!

Corrections to Grace Goddard records as the result of Cousin Sheila's research

Hello Vosper Cousins!

Cousin Sheila has supplied me with some data on our Vosper ancestors, and I’m going to be sending out some of the info so you can update your trees, and info.

First, here is info on Grace (Vosper) Goddard’s burial.

https://www.ancestry.com/family-tree/person/tree/47009625/person/6680772576/facts/citation/0/edit/details/facts

The location agrees with the information found on the Visitations:

I had quite a mess in my records, so I’ve attempted to clear that up.

Special thanks to Cousin Sheila for providing this info!

Arundel home from 1400s

Hello Vosper cousins,

This is not quite Vosper information, but the Vosper family does descend
from the Arundells.

While working on the Arundell line, I discovered Ebbingford Manor in Bude,
Cornwall then in the parish of Stratton. This home came to the Arundell
family through the marriage of Sir John Arundell I to Jane Durant in the
early 1400s. Its construction dates from the 12th century. The Arundell
family held this manor and surrounding lands along with Trerice near Newquay
until the family name died out in the late 1700s. They shared the area
around Bude with the Grenvilles with whom there were a number of marriages
over the years.

Ebbingford is in private hands and there are several holiday lets. We
stayed in the original part of the building which included the old medieval
hall and the original beams. The entry door is very old and may also be
original.

I had hoped to maybe meet some ghosts...they weren't around..., but it was
still a great thrill to be able to stay here and experience some of the
local history.

Best,
