FW: Lesley's daughter -Tanya's- matches with Vosper cousins
Cousin Lesley's daughter was the Ancestry DNA match I sent you earlier. Lesley and I ran the Gedmatch reports, and the media below represent the results of those comparisons.
Cousin Teri
----------------------
Hi Teri
You'll be getting mightily tired of me sending you data! (And I still have a cousin that might well throw something else into the Vosper pot!)
Tanya's GEDmatch number is A647352. I'm surprised that there are so many matches as it is yet another generation down the line! Sorry can't do the GMP stuff yet!!

Robyn Morley's

I haven't done any of the Tanya's close family, so as not to cloud the issue.

Gedmatch results with VOSPER COUSIN Carol Eades
Hello again, cousins!
Cousin Carol Eades reminded me that she had sent her kit # to me just before I went on a cruise, and I lost the thread of that conversation, and didn't do the kit comparisons. In checking my records, I also found I had left an error on our Vosper Cousins Chart. Good grief, I must have been very overwhelmed.
IF EVER I DO THIS TO YOU, please get back in touch – it is not intentional, it is just an oversight. I can use your help in making sure everything is complete…..
So, here are the results of the analysis – Carol certainly matches a LOT of us!:

Then, since we had such a good match to Robert Vosper, I took a look at Robert's segment match for Vosper / Goddard, and got this great map:
Look at all those segment matches that are in common with other cousins with a common MRCA of John Vosper and Grace Goddard!
Thanks so much, Carol, for getting in touch and letting me know that I had missed this.
And so the rest of you know, it was Carol who first pointed out that the Visitations of Cornwall page had our family incorrect, which got me on the correct path – thanks, Carol, for that as well!
Carol, there is no way to 'join' the Vosper Cousins Blog – it is just always there -- http://vospercousins.blogspot.com/ It's a handy place to look back on past correspondence or do a search for something you remember (use the little box on the upper left hand side)…
Have a great day!
Cousin Teri
RE: Cousin Lesley's brother Tony's Vosper DNA matches
Happy Saturday Vosper Cousins, unless it's Sunday – then Happy Sunday!
My last email with Glenda's DNA matches prompted this reply from Lesley Dawson, pointing out that I had missed Tony in the analysis. Sorry about that, Lesley! I've been overwhelmed with some other DNA work, and I missed the email with your brother's GedMatch number. I've now updated my database, and he will be included in future analysis.
Lesley, I'll get back to you individually about the GMP issues.
Cousins, I did all the positive matches that Lesley documented below and put them in my database – it's nice to see that BIG match with Cousin Paula!
Here are some segment matches I have from the Vosper/Bawden MRCA (Most Recent Common Ancestors):
These graphics are from GenomeMatePro, a free DNA analysis tool I use to store my results. I don't have profiles for each of the Vosper Cousins, just my immediate family and descendants of Charles Vosper who was the immigrant Vosper that came to America to found my family.
I have also received an email from Cousin Carol with her GedMatch results, so I'll be updating my records with her data, and sending out one more update on the DNA matches we share.
Frankly, I find it amazing that we have even these small matches so far back! But then, I find it amazing that we, such distant cousins, have gotten in touch with each other!
Take care,
Cousin Teri

Subject: My brother Tony's Vosper matches
Hi Teri
I don't have all the Gedmatch numbers for the Vosper group but here are a few results for my brother Tony Parker (I did send his Gedmatch number a while ago). Obviously he matches my sister Monica and myself.
No doubt you have more Gedmatch numbers than I have but he matches to quite a few of the group. I wouldn't know how to take it any further as I'm still grappling with the ins and outs of GMP and still having a LOT of trouble uploading data from FTDna into it. Managed Ancestry and Gedmatch OK but FTDna can get no data in for any of my profiles!
Let me know if you need any more details.
Regards
Lesley

FW: Gedmatch results with our newest cousin, Glenda
Glenda got some positive results in matches to some of the other Vosper Cousins who have DNA tested. I've documented the results below.
Given that our common ancestor is about 10 generations back, it would be kind of miraculous to find matching segments – but I did find some! They are small segments, which are often ignored by genetic genealogists as being IBS – identical by state. However, we have found the very same segments among different family members, showing they are IBD – identical by descent. Here are the results of the comparisons:
Glenda doesn't match me:
She does match my brother:
Comparing Kit M522600 (*Bennett descended from Willem Adrianse) and M590264 (*Glenda GM)
Minimum threshold size to be included in total = 500 SNPs
Mismatch-bunching Limit = 250 SNPs
Minimum segment cM to be included in total = 2.0 cM

10 | 25,261,934 | 28,797,376 | 3.8 | 642 |
11 | 85,055,685 | 92,304,523 | 4.3 | 1,260 |
Largest segment = 4.3 cM
Total of segments > 2 cM = 13.4 cM
4 matching segments
503563 SNPs used for this comparison.
AND my other brother:
Comparing Kit M584321 (*RL Rogers) and M590264 (*Glenda GM)
Minimum threshold size to be included in total = 500 SNPs
Mismatch-bunching Limit = 250 SNPs
Minimum segment cM to be included in total = 2.0 cM

11 | 85,522,134 | 92,304,523 | 4.2 | 1,187 |
Largest segment = 4.2 cM
Total of segments > 2 cM = 11.1 cM
3 matching segments
503724 SNPs used for this comparison.
She does not match cousin James Vosper:
Nor match Cousin Paula:
But Glenda does match Cousin Lesley Dawson:
Comparing Kit A065127 (*Geneseeker) and M590264 (*Glenda GM)
Minimum threshold size to be included in total = 500 SNPs
Mismatch-bunching Limit = 250 SNPs

No matches for these cousins:
But, there is a match to Sheila Stevens:
Comparing Kit A898607 (Sheila Stevens) and M590264 (*Glenda GM)
Minimum threshold size to be included in total = 500 SNPs
Mismatch-bunching Limit = 250 SNPs
Minimum segment cM to be included in total = 2.0 cM

There is also a match to Cousin Yvonne:
Comparing Kit A966132 (Aus Vosper) and M590264 (*Glenda GM)
Minimum threshold size to be included in total = 500 SNPs
Mismatch-bunching Limit = 250 SNPs
Minimum segment cM to be included in total = 2.0 cM
Chr | Start Location | End Location | Centimorgans (cM) | SNPs |
17 | 38,025,923 | 44,193,736 | 3.4 | 533 |
Largest segment = 3.4 cM
Total of segments > 2 cM = 3.4 cM
1 matching segments
293719 SNPs used for this comparison.
I've added this to my program for tracking DNA, and we end up with a genome map for my brother Robert that looks like this:
And for my brother Tom that looks like this:

We have a new member of our Vosper Cousins group, Glenda Mattes from the Boston area
Hello everyone!
As you can see from the subject, Glenda is joining our little group. She found us through the Vosper Cousins Blog! She is a descendant of the Barriball family, and I have attached an updated Cousin Chart.
Rather than telling you about Glenda, I've decided to include her message to me, below, which speaks volumes about Glenda's commitment to genealogy.
I'm looking forward to getting to know Glenda and am excited to see what contributions she can make – with her contacts with the Online Parish Clerks group in Cornwall I'm sure she'll be invaluable to Vosper research….
Have a great week!

Hi Teri,
Here is my Vosper descent from Mary, d/o Joseph & Mary (Prest) Vosper
Mary Vosper Barriball
William Barriball
Catherine Barriball Parsons
William Parsons
Charles Parsons
Charles Parsons
William C. Parsons
Irma Parsons Garrelts
Glenda Garrelts Mattes in Boston, MA
I have had my DNA done by FamilyTree and 23andMe. There is a tree of sorts connected to my FamilyTree results.
I have been working on family history with varying intensities since about 1980 when I set off to collect stories and pictures on a journey around Kansas when I was living near San Francisco. Then my husband took a job in England in 1996 and that's when I got more serious. I've transcribed various parish registers in Wales and Cornwall. I am the OPC for Werrington so I know that resource well. I also photographed and recorded the inscriptions for the Werrington churchyard. When my father died in 2000, I decided to get serious so started trying to put books together when I retired in 2003 – the first one took me until 2016, Touching Dirt, Vol. I. Hope my mom's doesn't take as long, but it's all turning out to be much more complex.
I do not have an online family tree. I have several cousins who have online trees. I can direct you to them if you need.
…I have done some work with Gary Boyd Roberts on the Arundell line going back. I think there is also a connection to Henry I of France:
…[deleted by Teri]...
None of this is ready for sharing. When finish, I will happily share all of it – just thought you might like to know about the royal connection.
I am in touch with several other Vosper cousins, one in particular, Anne Benoy in Canberra, Australia was born in Cornwall and goes back every year. I have recently returned from a quick 5 days when I got to visit Trerice Manor.
I also had a few hours in CRO Truro where I found this:
Daniel Vosper of Tamerton, gentleman took to wife Judith the daughter of Oliver Dinham of Saltash, 1 November 1621
I am working on your Vosper Extension. I need to see everything for myself. I found Johannes died 10 March 1590 in St. Mellion but none of the rest so far. Have just now looked at your tree so will work from that.
You have done an amazing amount of work…very pleased to have found you.
Best,
Glenda
